There will be at least 2 patients and/or carers on the committee, one receiving parenteral and the other enteral nutritional support. In addition there will be nominated representatives from each of the Founder Organisations of BAPEN.

The Founder Group will nominate their appropriate representative who will be allowed to serve for a term of five years.

Prior to a committee member stepping down from their term of office, their nominated replacement will shadow for at least one meeting to ensure continuity at the hand over period.

In addition to the nominated representatives, further members may be nominated/invited to serve on the committee in a specific capacity.

I have been on artificial nutrition since 1998. I was initially on enteral and I am now on parenteral, so I have an understanding of the issues that affect both types of feeding. I joined the committee because I believe that, as a patient, I have the experience-based knowledge that is essential in fulfilling LITRE's aims.

I am a paediatric Nutrition Nurse Specialist at King's College Hospital in South East London. I have been in the post for 4 years, and I'm hospital based, with close liaison with the community nursing teams. Within our nutrition team, I manage the care of children receiving enteral (naso-gastric and gastrostomy) and parenteral nutrition in hospital and at home, and also those with central lines in situ. I am on the committee as a nursing representative, and also as the only committee member to have regular contact with paediatric patients and their families, and I have increased my learning curve since my involvement with LITRE.

I live in Stoke on Trent and work part time as a Dietitian at North Staffs University Hospital. I became involved with LITRE initially not as a dietitian but as a carer for my daughter who was feeding enterally from birth both NG and late by PEG until it was removed in December 2000. I have remained on the committee as I feel I have some valuable experience to share both as a carer whose daughter was on enteral feeding and as a dietitian. (My Dietetic speciality is not home enteral feeding but renal)

As key industry representative I've been actively involved with the LITRE committee for 2 years. The committee is fortunate enough to include a wide range of healthcare related experts ranging from patients to physicians, and the combined output of these skills provide a class leading patient focused service relating to all matters of medical equipment.

It is my personal intension to continue to bring a fresh commercial approach to enlightening the awareness of the LITRE committee and its future vision.

I am a clinical physicist working in Bath Institute of Medical Engineering (BIME). BIME has a 25 year-history in evaluating infusion pumps, including pumps used for enteral and parenteral nutrition delivery. The Pump Evaluation laboratory of BIME is a part of the NHS PASA Centre for Evidence-based Purchasing, formerly known as the Device Evaluation Service of the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). I joined the LITRE committee in September 2005. I feel that my presence in the LITRE committee has a mutual benefit as I can share my general knowledge and experience of using infusion technologies, and can also learn about the needs and concerns of patients using infusion pumps for receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition supplements.
