The profile of Nutrition as Therapy has increased greatly in the last 10 years across the whole Region. At present 4 Hospitals in the Region have active Nutrition Teams, as well as specialist nutrition interest groups (e.g. ITU), and the value of Nutrition Nurse specialists is also being increasingly recognised.
The major aim at present is to encourage and help all hospitals to form functional nutrition teams; and to co-ordinate educational activities across the extended region. The Regional Dietetic Managers’ Forum and the recently formed Northern Nutrition Network (NNN) will be catalysts in this objective.
