Malnutrition in the News

BAPEN was founded in 1992 and has fought to combat disease related malnutrition ever since. However, despite numerous reports and initiatives to combat the problem, there are as many headlines relating to malnutrition and poor nutritional care as ever. This page features some of the headlines over the years that illustrate the problem – it is not intended to be comprehensive, but to give a flavour of the media coverage of the issues over the years. There is more information on the actions BAPEN and others have been taking to try and combat the problem under Treating & Preventing Malnutrition.

“Hospital food leaves patients malnourished”

The Times 2003

“Scandal that lets patients starve to death through lack of care”
