'MUST'
E-learning Resources on Nutritional Screening for Hospitals and the Community

Two interactive e-learning modules now available – one for staff working in hospitals; one for staff working in primary care and care homes.

In partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, BAPEN has developed an interactive e-learning resource on nutritional screening using ‘MUST’. Designed for health and care staff working in hospitals, primary care and care homes, the two modules explain the causes and consequences of malnutrition, the importance of nutritional screening and how to screen using ‘MUST’. Each include case studies and care plans appropriate for the work place and an online assessment tool together with the ability to print off certificates of achievement.

Key Features include:

  • Tailored case studies to meet staff needs and place of work

  • Interactive and online

  • 30-45 minutes on average to complete

Undertaking this module will equip staff to play a key part in improving the nutritional care of their residents/patients/clients as well as ensure compliance with the new Care Quality Commission regulation.

The modules are hosted on a secure server and can be accessed via the internet thus enabling the learner to complete the module at work or at home. The resource can be customised to include trust or organisational logos, a welcome from a senior manager and local care plans if desired. Costs for customisation will depend on the work required.

2 versions of the e-learning modules are available:

  1. A SCORM compliant version (hospital only) which will link into the learning management systems used by Trusts to record completion of e-learning courses.
  2. A non SCORM compliant version (hospital and community) with an optional reporting system which can be set at organisation, unit, directorate or ward level to enable managers to monitor staff uptake and completion.

For further information and access to the module, please contact the BAPEN Office on 01527 457850 or email: bapen@bapen.org.uk.
