BAPEN secretary is an honorary post with a normal tenure of three years. This involves five to six executive and three council meetings per year and ongoing commitment to organising the activities of BAPEN. A high degree of organisational skill and the ability to respond rapidly to enquiries is key to this post. A shadow period prior to appointment is felt to be useful, where the shadow appointee is able to attend meetings and observe email traffic to familiarise themselves with the work of the post.
