BAPEN supports Hospitals and Trusts that are addressing malnutrition
‘BAPEN supports hospitals and health trusts that have instigated screening for malnutrition on admission and are reviewing and improving their nutritional care and treatment policies throughout the hospital stay and on discharge. Increased attention on malnutrition will inevitably lead to an increase in reported cases of malnutrition and should be welcomed. If malnutrition is not recognised and recorded there is no guarantee it will be treated appropriately, and furthermore, no guarantee that the information will be handed on to community health and care services so that any longer term threat to health can continue to be addressed.’
