Industry Sponsorship Opportunities – 2017

Founded in 1992, BAPEN is the leading Charitable Association for malnutrition consisting of a multidisciplinary membership network of Doctors, Nurses, Dietitians, Pharmacists and Patients. As an organisation, we have produced and continue to produce many reports and resources to assist organisations to screen for malnutrition and deliver appropriate nutritional care.

By sponsoring BAPEN you will help to provide essential funds to resource and support the organisation to tackle malnutrition and ensure that excellent nutritional care is provided for all patients in all settings. Through BAPENs regionalisation work we will actively engage with commissioners, area teams, and key stakeholders to ensure that organisations are focussed on achieving nutritional standards.

We offer three distinct levels of sponsorship for industry partners: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Alongside this we would welcome support for our new ‘Specialist Interest Groups (SIGs) through separate Educational Grants. Our current NG tube SIG was formed at the end of 2016; and in 2017 we are launching several new SIGs to cover topics including: Learning Difficulty; Dementia; and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We have also developed a new tier of membership this year, for catering companies looking to support BAPEN in 'putting patients at the centre of good nutritional care'.

Bupa logo LloydsPharmacy Clinical Homecare

We're one of the most experienced providers of clinical homecare in the UK, and we’ve been supporting patients in this way since 1975. We provide care to more than 36,000 patients in their own home, ranging from straightforward delivery of medication to specialist nursing for complex conditions. We used to be called Bupa Home Healthcare and in July 2016 we were acquired by the Celesio UK group of companies, a leading provider of healthcare services, including LloydsPharmacy. Being part of the Celesio UK group of companies means we are perfectly placed to address the evolving needs of healthcare in the UK. We work in partnership with the NHS, pharmaceutical companies, and private medical insurers. Our range of treatments and conditions includes home parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, enzyme replacement therapy, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and much more. Because we manage the entire end-to-end homecare journey, using our own in-house staff and closely monitored processes, we are able to control and assure safety and quality at every stage – from prescription management through to medication delivery and nursing care in patients own homes.

ESPEN is the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. It draws its membership from right across Europe and undertakes a wide range of activities.

All these initiatives are being led by international experts in the field who are committed to raising the profile of nutrition, developing the research programmes to underpin the need for nutritional intervention and providing the means to share the information necessary to improve clinical practice. These include:

ESPEN nutritionDay worldwide - this is the largest study to be undertaken in Europe and it has been set up in response to the Council of Europe Resolution (2003) which described the importance of improving nutritional provision in hospitals.

What has been achieved so far and how to get involved.

The ESPEN Life Long Learning Programme is an integrated approach to clinical nutrition using a mixture of web-based and taught modules. This is also formally accredited and is being developed into a Diploma course. Click here for more information

The ESPEN Annual Conference is one of the most prestigious meetings of its kind in the world. There are concurrent Scientific and Educational programmes to describe the latest advances in research and clinical practice. The programme is accredited through the European Accreditation in Continuing Medical Education initiative. The next meeting will be held in Denmark, Copenhagen, 17th – 20th September 2016.

ESPEN Special Interest Groups - these exist to ensure that researchers have an easily accessible forum within which to progress such topics as peri-operative nutrition, clinical trials, nutrition in the elderly, cachexia-anorexia in wasting disease, genomics and nutrition, and tracer methodology

ESPEN Clinical Nutrition Courses - these are held each year at basic and advanced levels. They are interactive and enable delegates to form networks to advance their clinical practice.

ESPEN Journals – there are now two journals:
Clinical Nutrition has an impact factor of 2.474 making it one of the leading scientific nutrition journals. There are also supplements to the journal.

Clinical Nutrition ESPEN is an electronic-only journal and is an official publication of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN).

Published bimonthly, Clinical Nutrition ESPEN focuses on publishing articles on the relationship between nutrition and disease in the setting of basic science and clinical practice. Clinical Nutrition ESPEN is available to all members of ESPEN and to all subscribers of Clinical Nutrition.
