President Elect

BAPEN is inviting applicants for the position of President Elect, an opportunity to work alongside the current President, Dr Nick Thompson, for one year before beginning a three-year term as BAPEN President in November 2026.

As President, you will lead the organisation, shape strategic priorities, champion clinical nutrition, and strengthen partnerships across the healthcare community. This is a high-impact leadership role, well-supported by BAPEN’s Executive, Council, and Trustees.

Dr Nick Thompson reflects on his experience:

“Leading such a dedicated and impressive organisation that remains resolute in its commitment to patients has been a real honour. I am particularly proud of our work to help develop a new grants scheme with BAPEN, supporting members to pursue quality improvement and research projects and to re-introduce after many years a Clinical Nutrition Team Development Course. The support from colleagues within BAPEN makes this a truly rewarding and collaborative role. I strongly encourage those passionate about nutritional care to consider applying – it offers a real chance to shape the future of the organisation and drive meaningful progress in clinical nutrition.”

How to apply:

Please send your current CV and a personal statement explaining your suitability for the role and vision for your time as President to bapen@bapen.org.uk by 5pm on Monday 29th August 2025. All applications will be considered by BAPEN Council with the aim to announce the successful candidate at the BAPEN Conference in November 2025.
