Background
The webinars have been a joint venture between 3 regional nutrition services keen to promote nutrition training, increase access to educational resources and to showcase the wide variety of working as a nutrition and intestinal rehabilitation specialist. As the popularity of these webinars has increased BAPEN have taken over the organisation. We will continue to host a monthly webinar covering a wide range of nutrition-related topics. These will be held on Wednesday lunchtimes and recorded for those who are unable to participate live.
Aims:
- To provide evidence based education in clinical nutrition aimed at Gastroenterology & Hepatology SpRs, surgical SpRs and the wider nutrition MDT
- To highlight the importance of good nutrition and the implications of malnutrition on patient outcomes in all clinical settings
- To demonstrate the benefit of nutrition support teams and specialist intestinal failure units
- To equip clinical staff with the knowledge to ensure timely and appropriate referrals for parenteral nutrition and to regional intestinal failure units
- To increase awareness of Nutrition and Intestinal Failure as sub-specialty areas within Gastroenterology
