Between May and June 2020, BAPEN conducted a survey of healthcare professionals to better understand how the nutritional care of patients with COVID-19 was being managed in the community, and to gain insights into some of the key challenges. It was great to have responses from all four nations of the UK, this comprehensive response has enabled us to better understand the impact of the first wave of the pandemic.
The summary report includes findings regarding malnutrition and nutrition-related symptoms, malnutrition risk, barriers to delivering good nutrition, nutritional strategies, and nutritional pathways and community care. Do have a read of the full summary report here.
We also conducted a survey of healthcare professionals in the acute sector at a similar time, and we will bring you the results of that survey soon.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the community survey.
