Today, one of our standing committees, BANS, has launched a national survey to gather data on home enteral feeding. The purpose of the survey is to better understand the national state of affairs of home enteral tube feeding in adults and children across the UK in 2021.

The survey is open for all healthcare professionals to complete. The data set includes demographics, type of tube and feed, complications and patient support. If the data is to hand, it only takes around 2 minutes to complete!

The final report will allow us to develop the picture of current HETF caseloads, access to healthcare professionals and complications, as well as the extent to which national guidelines are being met. Building this data pool will in turn mean we can make recommendations for future work and areas of improvement for patient care. On an individual level, contributing to the survey will also enable you to benchmark your own caseload against national findings.

In due course, BAPEN will report on the survey data, describing current trends and challenges associated with this nutritional treatment.

The survey will be open for 4 weeks, until Sunday 19th December.
