Abstract Submission Process
Abstracts of Original Communications – Directions to Contributors
Original communications offer contributors the opportunity to present results of recent research in advance of their publication in a full paper. This year abstracts will be judged in various categories to reflect the diversity of BAPEN, therefore, please confirm which category your abstract falls into on the Assignment Form.
Downloads (Word format)
Training grade doctors/surgeons may submit their abstract for consideration of the Powel-Tuck Prize which includes £200 prize fund, see further details here (PDF). Should you wish your abstract to be considered please tick the appropriate box on the Assignment Form and confirm your GMC number.
Dietitians may submit abstracts on nutritional support for the PENG Award. See www.peng.org.uk for details of the award and how to become a PENG member.
Abstracts submitted will be reviewed and scored by a multi-professional review panel. In making its decision, the panel will consider the quality of the communication in terms of its relevance to nutritional science or practice, the substance of its results, together with its originality and currency. Please note if submitting under clinical practice you must demonstrate the impact of the enquiry on practice.
Abstracts accepted for the meeting will then considered for an Oral Communication or Static Poster. The method of presentation will be determined by the Programmes Committee.
Publication of Abstracts
An Abstract Booklet will be printed and distributed to all registered delegates on arrival at the venue. Only the top scoring abstracts will then be submitted for publication in the on-line Clinical Nutrition ESPEN journal, these will not be subject to further editing, it is therefore vital that abstracts are prepared in accordance with the Technical Directions provided.
NOTE: ALL ITEMS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN 5.00 p.m. ON FRIDAY 6th JULY 2018
Any abstracts received after this date will not be considered.
Notification of acceptance or rejection will be advised following the Abstract Selection Meeting.
