Update to TauroSept® IFU to include information on use in newborns, infants and children
There have been a number of updates to the TauroSept® Instructions for Use (IFU) that are supplied with the vials. Chiefly, in contrast to the original TauroSept® IFU, the revised version provides information about the application of TauroSept® not only in adult patients, but newborns, infants and children as well.1
TauroSept® is indicated in patients with an intravascular catheter in situ who are at risk of occlusion, catheter thrombosis or bacterial or fungal infection, and in patients who have an intraluminal infection.1 TauroSept® contains the antimicrobial agent taurolidine in a 2% solution1, the highest concentration available in catheter lock solutions in the UK, and can be used with any vascular access device.1
It is anticipated over the next 12 months there will be a transition to supplying packs of TauroSept® vials that include the revised IFU. In the meantime, should you wish to use TauroSept® in newborns, infants or children then please contact your local Calea Business Development Manager to ensure you have a copy of the revised TauroSept® IFU prior to use.
