The NNNG held its yearly Annual General Meeting back in August. Unfortunately, we only had a small turn out, but it was great to hear opinions and look at our leadership structure. We discussed the up-and-coming Nutrition Nurse book, showcasing all the work Nutrition Nurses do! It is always very inspiring hear how varied Nutrition Nursing roles can be! As always, we love your ideas and feedback at any time in the year, so do contact us with any thoughts and ideas: info@nnng.org.uk
The NNNG BAPEN Conference Lead, Ben Booth, has organised a fantastic nurse line-up to speak in the NNNG symposium, so we really hope you will join us in showcasing how good nutrition needs nurses. We apologise for the delay in our new Nasogastric Good Practice guidelines and really hope to have them ready for BAPEN 2023.

As usual at this time of year the NNNG conference planning is in full swing as we head to the South for Conference 2024. We have taken so much feedback on board from York23; it’s destined to be a fantastic learning and networking event. Suggestions of talks/workshops will always be welcomed.
We have also been looking into educational resources surrounding chyme re-infusion, so watch out for a special NNNG webinar soon to look at practical set-up and how nurses can lead the way with new technological advances! Our Reflect, Restore, Regain (RRR) programme continues to run from strength to strength at a time where wellbeing is so important to nurses.
Furthermore, we always are on the lookout for writers for the British Journal of Nursing (BJN) column. No experience is required and we will help you get your ideas or reports down on paper.
Finally, the BJN Nutrition Nurse of the year nominations will be open soon! Please nominate your fantastic colleagues. We can’t wait to read all the amazing work nutrition nurses have been up to!
Don’t forget members have access to our exclusive discussion board, so please do add any burning questions and if you don’t have questions your answers will be invaluable to someone else! Let’s keep sharing best practice as we are stronger together!

BPNG had their Annual General Meeting 12 October 2023 and shared their activities for the year. Marko Puzovic was appointed into the vacant post of Research Officer. Marko was previously in the role of Paediatric Support for Paediatrics on the Executive Committee, so we welcome Marko into his new role. Marko has a strong research background and recently obtained a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy Practice, where he researched patients’ and healthcare professionals’ experience with home parenteral therapy.
We have continued with our very successful free educational webinars. Our most recent webinar provided a recap of the BPNG symposium from BAPEN Conference 2022. Jacqueline Eastwood updated us on the background to changes within homecare and aseptic compounding capacity. She provided an update on national reviews and working groups. Sarah Zeraschi provided a review of the use of licensed parenteral nutrition (PN) bag for in-patients and in the homecare setting. All webinars are recorded and available to members via our website.
We are looking forward to BAPEN 2023 in Edinburgh and hope to have a good presence from the BPNG Executive. We are excited to launch the updated Medicines via Enteral Tubes guidance resources. We have three excellent presentations as part of the BPNG symposium around the topic of prescribing in Nutrition Support. Do come and join us!
We are now taking registrations for our Advanced Practitioner education event in Birmingham in January 2024, and will soon be launching the Fundamentals in Parenteral Nutrition event in London in June 2024. Check our website: www.bpng.co.uk for further information.
