UK Malnutrition Awareness Week 2023

BAPEN is delighted to be joining forces with the Malnutrition Task Force (MTF) once again to run UK Malnutrition Awareness Week 2023 (UKMAW2023), which will take place between 6th – 12th November. Please get involved with the campaign to increase understanding of the dangers, risk factors, and signs of malnutrition and dehydration.

The campaign focus – Ask, Look, Listen – recognises that malnutrition is everyone’s business. It is easier to manage malnutrition or dehydration when it is spotted earlier, so we want everybody in health and care multidisciplinary teams to spread the importance of keeping nutritional care at the forefront of minds, and for people in the community to look out for family members, friends, neighbours, and colleagues.

The daily themes for #UKMAW2023 have been announced, and we encourage you to check out the BAPEN website to find out more, including how you can get involved, either through sharing messaging on social media, championing the daily themes in your work setting, or participating in the National Screening Month throughout November.

BAPEN & PINNT Develop New Resource to Optimise Nutritional Care for Patients

Developed by a dedicated Patient Network Development Group including representatives from PINNT, BAPEN and each of BAPEN’s Core Groups, the resource explains nutrition quality standards in a tangible way to support patient understanding around what care they can expect. It covers the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) quality standards for adults who are receiving oral, enteral or parenteral nutrition support, and offers a comprehensive checklist for patients to discuss with their care team.

To access the new patient resource visit the BAPEN website here, or the PINNT website here.

BAPEN Annual Conference 2022 Abstracts Published

We're pleased to share that the abstracts from BAPEN’s Annual Conference 2022 have been published and are now accessible via the Clinical Nutrition ESPEN journal.

Every year, BAPEN invites research papers of high quality in areas of nutrition research to be submitted ahead of our Annual Conference. These submissions are peer reviewed for quality of research, scientific content, and logical presentation. The abstracts of the highest standard are then selected for either oral or poster presentation as part of the Annual Conference.

This selection of research, spanning the wide range of topics, showcases the exemplary work being carried out and acts as a welcome reminder to book your place at the 2023 Annual Conference.

Join us in Edinburgh on 28-29 November to experience the very latest research and hear from experts across a diverse programme of topics. If you haven’t booked your place yet – there is still time! Access the preliminary programme, alongside venue and accommodation information here.
