The British Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (BPNG) continued its webinar series on 23rd October 2024, with a compelling session on the use of filters in the administration of parenteral nutrition (PN). Jo Gent, a Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist at St Mark’s Hospital, delivered a practical talk on implementing and establishing the use of filters for PN. Following her, Amy Hill, Operational Lead Pharmacist Oncology at University Hospital Southampton, discussed the newly updated BPNG Position Statement on the use of filters during PN administration. This statement, issued in October 2024, is available on the BPNG website. The event was well-received, attracting a strong multidisciplinary team turnout and high audience interaction. A recording of the session is available to BPNG members on the website.

The BPNG also hosted a symposium at the BAPEN Conference in Gateshead on 6th November 2024, at 11:15am, focusing on sustainability in nutrition support. The symposium featured Dr Ashley Bond, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Salford Royal; Laura Stevenson, Associate Chief Pharmacist Aseptic Services at King’s College Hospital; and Nina Taherzadeh, Principal Pharmacist at Royal Free Hospital. The event was well-attended and sparked lively discussions, with audience members sharing ideas and experiences on sustainability in practice. A recording of the symposium is available on the BAPEN website.

Additionally, the BPNG had a stand at the Conference, providing an excellent opportunity to network, engage, and support Conference attendees.

Looking ahead to 2025, the Fundamentals in Parenteral Nutrition course has been rescheduled for September. The Advanced Course will take place in May in Birmingham, featuring an innovative agenda for experienced practitioners. For registration details, keep an eye on the events page at www.bpng.co.uk.
