At the time of going to press the Education & Training Committee (E & T) were just finishing their Regional Workshop in Birmingham. The day was mixed – short on numbers but high in quality! The disappointing attendance at the meeting highlights the challenges we all face in attending educational events due to ever increasing demands at work. It is clear that we are going to need to rethink our approach to Education & Training in the years to come, as it is increasingly difficult for staff to attend events other than Annual Conference (which is still difficult for many!).
The website is now fully functioning (although we know that not all Trusts have suitably up-to-date computers or compliant firewalls) and we will be populating the E & T resources over the summer. We hope to be able to share some exciting news about eLearning later on in the year and have been delighted to see that almost 180 members used our eLearning resources in the first three months of this year. For information on our two symposia that will feature at this year’s BAPEN Annual Conference click here – further details will be announced shortly. We are planning on commissioning some work to evaluate what nutrition resources are used and how are they used; more details in future updates.
We welcome Jackie Eastwood on to the Committee and say goodbye to Becky White, Rob Fearn and Protima Amon. After many years on the Committee, and the last three years as Secretary, Imogen Watson has stood down from the Committee and Barbara Davidson has kindly steeped into her shoes. We are enormously grateful to Imogen for all the work, energy and enthusiasm she gave to the Committee; she is already missed!
