Currently, there is limited workforce information for many professions involved in nutritional care, making it difficult to understand current capacity and plan for future demand. BAPEN is conducting a national workforce survey to address this gap and build a stronger picture of the multidisciplinary teams delivering nutrition support across the UK.
Nutrition teams are essential in delivering safe and effective nutritional care, including oral, enteral, and parenteral nutrition, across all settings. Their key responsibilities include safe nasogastric (NG) tube care, appropriate patient selection for PEG insertion, initiation of parenteral nutrition, and monitoring complication rates associated with artificial nutrition support.
The first phase of this survey focuses on Acute Hospitals and Health Boards, covering both adult and paediatric services.
If you receive an email from your regional representative, please complete the survey for your acute trust. The data collected will help shape workforce planning and improve patient care across the UK.
The survey will remain open until midnight on 17th December.
If you experience any issues or have questions, please contact the BAPEN office at bapen@bapen.org.uk for support.
