CATA’s disappointment as Chair rejects making an interim statement

Other News

CATA is deeply disappointed that the Chair of the UK COVID-19 Inquiry has decided not to make an interim statement confirming the airborne transmission of COVID-19 particles via aerosols, meaning that any statement will now be delayed until Module 3’s report is published in Spring 2026.

CATA (the COVID Airborne Transmission Alliance) – alongside partners such as the BMA and long-COVID patient groups – has continued to press the Chair of the UK COVID-19 Inquiry to call for an interim statement which would support the requirement for appropriate respiratory protective equipment (FFP3 or hoods) for COVID-19 care delivery.

Read CATA’s request for an interim recommendation during Module 3 here, alongside a response in the form of a rejection from the of the UK COVID-19 inquiry’s Chair, here.

CATA is continuing to pursue other channels to make progress on this important issue. Keep updated on developments on this page of the BAPEN website.
