Other News

BAPEN would like to highlight two new publications from the Medicines and healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) concerning the administration of parenteral nutrition (PN) in all care settings. The guidance has been issues following a review of current practice and aims to support the safe delivery of PN for patients across hospital, community and home care settings.

The publications include a Device Safety Information notice and a Drug Safety Update, both of which reinforce the importance of reviewing local policies, procedures and clinical practice to ensure PN is delivered both safely and consistently.

BAPEN encourages healthcare professionals, nutrition teams, service providers and homecare services involved in PN to review the updated MHRA guidance and consider its implications for your practice.
