BAPEN pays tribute to the life and work of Ann Micklewright

BAPEN News

We’re saddened to hear the news that Ann Micklewright has recently passed away. Ann was an integral part of the BAPEN team, developing the PENG Pocket Guide to Clinical Nutrition alongside Vera Todorovic, and playing an influential role in the early development of BANS. Her significant and consistent contribution to BAPEN was notably recognised in 2011 when Ann was awarded the John Lennard-Jones medal, the highest accolade that the Association can bestow. We know that her lifetime of work across dietetics will continue to be an inspiration for years to come and we’re honoured to have experienced her outstanding dedication and effervescent generosity.

Dr Barry Jones – Ann’s close colleague and BAPEN Trustee – shared:

“Ann was the embodiment of dedication in the field of dietetics and a valued advocate for home enteral nutrition. As a pillar of BAPEN and BANS, her unwavering support defined an era. Ann’s email moniker ‘dietqueen’ captured her essence perfectly—an iconic presence driving progress. She exemplified selflessness, her boundless enthusiasm was a beacon for all. In her passing, we honour a true team player whose work continues to inspire.”

Ann’s life and work will continue to be celebrated as part of an In Touch later this year.
